Patrick Tunno, PhD, is a writer, professor, and Italy specialist whose work explores culture, belonging, language, and meaningful travel. He has spent decades studying, living, and leading study abroad programs throughout Italy, where his family roots trace back to the mountain villages of Abruzzo.
He is the author of A Guide to Italy: Cultural Insights and Tips to Maximize Your Trip, winner of the 2023 Reader Views Silver Award for Travel, and has appeared on WPSU PBS, WLS-AM Chicago, and in the Italian American Herald. His essays focus on identity, immersion, family history, and the transformative possibilities of place.
He teaches at Penn State University and writes regularly about Italy, cultural connection, and travel beyond tourism.
